Iulia Vantur Spots Mumbai’s Vada Pav on Cannes Menu
MUMBAI — Singer and actress Iulia Vantur gave fans a glimpse of Mumbai’s beloved street food getting an international twist at Cannes, where vada pav was served at an event as a “Vada Brioche Bun.”
Vantur shared a video on social media Wednesday night showing a food counter featuring the dish. The description card called it “Mumbai’s beloved vada pav, served in buttery brioche with pickled onion and fried chilli.”
The menu also noted that the dish contained dairy and gluten.
Vantur appeared amused and pleasantly surprised by the sight, offering fans a look at how Indian street food is finding space on global menus during the Cannes festivities.
In another video, Vantur was seen wearing an elegant turquoise and gold traditional Indian ensemble.
Vantur was recently at Cannes for the screening and promotion of her film, “Echoes of Us,” along with director Joe Ranjan and co-star Deepak Tijori.
In an interview with IANS, she said she was emotional and overwhelmed to see fans from her home country, Romania, waiting for her on the Cannes red carpet.
“Romania has been such an important part of my journey. I share a connection that is very deep and emotional,” Vantur said.
She said the support from Romanian fans was especially touching.
“What really touched me was seeing Romanian fans waiting for me on the red carpet. They came up, wanted to talk, share a hug, it felt so warm and genuine,” she said.
“At the same time, I also felt so much love from India and even from people across the world. When people welcome you with such warmth and smiles, it reassures you that what you’re doing is connecting with them. And that’s the most beautiful feeling any artist can ask for,” Vantur added.
