Sushmita Sen Marks 32 Years Since Historic Miss Universe Win

MUMBAI — Sushmita Sen marked 32 years since her historic Miss Universe win by sharing a note of gratitude and a special message for the Philippines, where she was crowned in 1994.
The actress and former beauty queen posted a photo on Instagram showing her smiling while sitting in a bus on the way to her aircraft.
“Grateful for the smile that never left me for 32 years & counting!!! This feeling of being blessed!! You are the reason!!! #happy32ndanniversary #India #missuniverse1994 Mahal kita #philippines Forever Cherished!! I love you guys beyond….#duggadugga Yours truly,” Sen wrote.
Sen was 18 when she won the Miss India title in 1994, earning the chance to represent India at Miss Universe that year. She later served as one of the judges at Miss Universe 2016.
After winning Miss Universe, Sen entered Hindi cinema with the 1996 thriller Dastak, in which she played the victim of a stalker portrayed by Sharad Kapoor. In 1998, she appeared opposite Sunny Deol in Zor.
Sen, 50, is the mother of two adopted daughters. She adopted her first daughter, Renee Sen, in 2000 at age 24. Her second daughter, Alisah, joined the family in 2010.
On the work front, Sen was last seen in Aarya 3, the Indian crime-thriller drama series created by Ram Madhvani. The show stars Sen in the title role and is based on the Dutch drama series Penoza.
The series follows Aarya, an independent woman who tries to protect her family and becomes involved with a mafia network while seeking revenge for her husband’s murder. The show was previously nominated for an International Emmy Award for best drama series.
Sen’s film and streaming credits also include Biwi No. 1, Sirf Tum, Filhaal, Aankhen, Main Hoon Na, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, Aarya and Taali. In Taali, released in 2023, she portrayed transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant. (Source: IANS)
