IndiGo’s London–Mumbai Flight Delayed Amid Middle East Tensions, Rescheduled for March 10

New Delhi— An IndiGo flight operating from London to Mumbai that was unable to complete its journey on March 8 due to disruptions linked to escalating tensions in the Middle East will now operate on March 10 after mandatory crew rest.

Sources familiar with the matter said the airline is making arrangements to assist affected passengers during the delay. Hotel accommodation and necessary visas are being organised to support travellers until the flight resumes operations.

The disruption comes as airlines worldwide face evolving airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Earlier, another IndiGo aircraft bound for Manchester from New Delhi was forced to return to its origin after nearly seven hours in the air due to sudden airspace restrictions in the region.

According to the airline, flight 6E033, operating on the Delhi–Manchester route, turned back following last-minute airspace limitations linked to the rapidly evolving situation in West Asia.

IndiGo said some of its flights may need to take longer routes or face diversions as conditions in the region continue to change. The airline emphasised that the safety and security of passengers, crew and aircraft remain its top priority.

Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 had earlier highlighted the incident on social media, sharing tracking data showing the aircraft reversing course mid-flight and heading back toward India.

According to the platform, the aircraft made a U-turn near the border between Ethiopia and Eritrea before returning to Delhi.

The disruption also affected investor sentiment. Shares of InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, ended about 4 per cent lower at Rs 4,236 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday, after earlier falling as much as 8.37 per cent during the trading session.

Market analysts said aviation stocks are facing pressure as crude oil prices surge amid the geopolitical tensions. Oil prices briefly approached $110 per barrel after several major producers reduced output and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted due to the conflict.
