Haryana Women’s Commission issues notice to rapper Badshah over alleged obscene lyrics

Mumbai — Rapper Badshah has been served a notice by the Haryana State Women’s Commission over alleged obscene lyrics in his recently released song “Titiri.”
The commission has summoned the singer to appear on March 13 to record his statement regarding the controversy surrounding the Haryanvi folk-style track.
The notice follows a complaint filed by Savita Arya, president of Nari Tu Narayani Sanstha in Panipat, and Shiv Kumar, head of the Shiv Aarti Foundation. The complaint raises objections to a line in the song, “Aaya Badshah doli chaddhane, in sabki ghodi banane,” alleging that the lyrics are inappropriate.
Complainants also alleged that the music video features scenes showing minor girls in school uniforms boarding a Haryana Roadways bus and throwing their school bags, which they described as objectionable.
The song has also drawn criticism from some community groups in Haryana, including a Khap body, adding to the growing controversy around the release.
Badshah has faced several legal controversies and investigations in the past, although many did not result in convictions.
In 2020, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch questioned him in connection with a probe into alleged fake social media engagement involving companies that sold artificial followers and views to celebrities. Reports at the time claimed he paid about ₹72 lakh to increase views for his song “Paagal,” though he denied any wrongdoing.
In 2023, he was summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Police as part of an investigation into the illegal streaming of Indian Premier League matches on the FairPlay app. In that case, he cooperated with investigators and appeared as a witness rather than an accused.
More recently, in 2025, a case was registered in Punjab alleging that lyrics in his song “Velvet Flow” hurt Christian religious sentiments.
The rapper has also faced minor legal issues, including a traffic violation fine in Gurugram after a vehicle in his convoy was reportedly caught driving on the wrong side of the road. (Source: IANS)
