South Asian Showdown Returns to Boston This Saturday with 17th Annual Bollywood/Fusion Competition

BOSTON — One of North America’s premier South Asian fusion dance competitions returns to the city this weekend as nine collegiate and academy teams prepare to take the stage at the historic Strand Theatre for the 17th annual South Asian Showdown.

The event will take place Saturday, February 28, 2026, bringing together performers from across the United States for a high-energy evening of storytelling through dance. Tickets remain available online.

“Each year, this contest gets bigger and better,” said Rohit Bhambi, founder of South Asian Showdown. “We have ten teams ready to bring can’t-miss performances to the stage. You will be locked in from the moment the first foot hits the pulsing music in this phenomenal atmosphere.”

Bollywood Fusion, the signature style of the competition, blends traditional and contemporary influences — including Bollywood, hip hop, bhangra, classical Indian dance, contemporary, and Tollywood — into narrative-driven performances complete with intricate choreography and vibrant costumes. Teams compete for a cash prize and the distinction of winning one of the country’s most respected South Asian dance showcases.
