BOSTON – Alka Singh has been elected as the new President of the BIT Sindri Alumni Association of North America (BITSAANA), a nonprofit organization representing graduates of BIT Sindri living in the United States and Canada.

A longstanding and active member of the organization, Singh brings years of leadership experience to the role, having previously served as Secretary and Vice President. Her election marks a new chapter for BITSAANA, which has grown into a dynamic platform for networking, mentorship, and philanthropic collaboration among alumni of the esteemed Indian engineering institute.

As President, Singh has outlined a bold and inspiring vision: To make BIT Sindri a world-class institution. She plans to focus on strengthening alumni engagement, enhancing support for current students, and forging deeper connections between North American alumni and their alma mater in Jharkhand, India.

BIT Sindri, established in 1949, is one of India’s oldest engineering colleges—preceding even IIT Kharagpur. The institute has produced many accomplished professionals across the globe, including: Dr. Krishna P. Singh, President & CEO of Holtec International; Amarendu Prakash, Chairman of Steel Authority of India Ltd.; and Rashmi Kumar, SVP & CIO of Medtronic.

Singh herself graduated with a degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering. She began her career at SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd.) as a Management Trainee (Technical) in the Telecommunications department, where she worked for six years. After relocating to the U.S., she transitioned into the field of software engineering and currently works as a Project Manager.

Widely respected for her dedication, ethical values, and community involvement, Singh represents the spirit of the BIT Sindri alumni network—committed to growth, giving back, and global collaboration.

She will be supported in her new role by the newly elected BITSAANA executive committee:

Prabhat Sinha – Chairman

Sanjay Verma – Vice President

Vinay Singh – Secretary

Neha Pandey – Treasurer.

Outgoing President Divyanshu Raj has been credited with strengthening BITSAANA’s presence and programs over the past term. Singh aims to build on that momentum with a focus on inclusivity, innovation, and impact.

As BITSAANA continues to expand its footprint across North America, the organization remains committed to its core mission: fostering a strong culture of mutual support among BIT Sindri alumni, and empowering them to thrive both personally and professionally.
