GROTON, MA—Groton’s Sai Temple, which will become the largest Sai temple in North America upon its completion, raised over $65,000 through its innovative “sponsor a masonry block” program. Temple officials said about 1,300 devotees, volunteers, and community activists participated in the 12-week program.

The sponsorship of a masonry block costs $51 each. Devotees or temple supporters can sponsor any number of bricks or masonry blocks. During the program, supporters either donated online or visited the temple to sign their names on the masonry block.

The masonry sponsorship program ends this week, but devotees can still donate under this or other programs. For more information, visit: www.NESSP.org or click here.

The new Sai temple is a giant construction project in Massachusetts, with exterior walls and framing nearly complete. Volunteers of New England Shirdi Sai Parviaar, known as NESSP that is building the temple, are planning to have a grand opening in July 2017.

The two-story, 40,000-square-foot temple is being built on a 28-acre site. The temple currently operates out of a 7,200-square-foot rented facility in Chelmsford, MA, and will relocate to the new facility when it is completed in July 2017. NESSP acquired the land for $1.14 million and plans to spend an additional $10 million to build the new complex. As of now, the temple has raised over $7.5 million.
