Patna– In his first public address since the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a resolute message on Thursday, vowing that India will relentlessly pursue those responsible and ensure that terrorism does not go unpunished.

Speaking to a large crowd in Madhubani, Bihar, on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, Modi condemned the “cowardly” attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, most of them tourists. He called upon the audience to observe a two-minute silence in honor of the victims.

“From the sacred soil of Bihar, I declare to the world—India will identify, track down, and punish every terrorist and their enablers,” Modi said forcefully.

“We will chase them to the ends of the Earth. Terrorism will never break India’s spirit. It will not go unanswered. We will ensure justice is served. The entire nation stands united in this resolve, and every believer in humanity stands with us,” he asserted.

Calling the attack an assault on “India’s very soul,” the Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. “The brutal killing of innocent citizens in Pahalgam has shaken the entire nation. From Kargil to Kanyakumari, India mourns this loss,” he said.

He highlighted the diversity of the victims, underscoring the unity of the country in grief. “In this terrorist attack, some lost their sons, some their brothers, some their life partners. The victims spoke different languages—Bangla, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Gujarati, Bihari—but today, all of India grieves for them.”

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to justice, Modi vowed that the perpetrators and their planners would face consequences far beyond their expectations. “Those behind this terrorist act will face a punishment they cannot even imagine. We will ensure they pay the price,” he said.

The Prime Minister also extended gratitude to the nations that have expressed solidarity with India in the aftermath of the attack, which was claimed by The Resistance Front, a Pakistan-based group affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba.

India has responded to the attack with a series of strong diplomatic and strategic actions. These include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, expelling Pakistani military attachés, closing the Attari-Wagah border crossing, and canceling the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani nationals.

These measures, combined with Modi’s forceful rhetoric, signal India’s firm stance against terrorism and its determination to hold both perpetrators and their sponsors accountable. (Source: IANS)
