Bollywood Roundup: Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Lisa Ray, and more…

Kajol says life’s random moments often turn into the perfect shot

MUMBAI, India — Actress Kajol says some of the best moments in life come completely unplanned — something she recently proved with a spontaneous photo shoot that left fans gushing online.

The actress took to Instagram to share a series of stunning photos of herself dressed in a white saree paired with an embellished blouse featuring delicate thread work and a net back. Kajol completed the elegant look with silver jhumkas, brown-toned makeup, and a classic bun decorated with a gajra.

The photos, taken near a doorway, came about during a simple moment of indecision.

“Deciding whether I should shut the door or leave it open… And somehow that became the shot! A lot like most of life (sic),” Kajol wrote in the caption.

The candid post quickly caught the attention of fans — and even her “Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle” co-host Twinkle Khanna, who commented, “So pretty :).”

On the work front, Kajol will next appear in the upcoming action thriller “Maharagni: Queen of Queens,” where she plays Maya, a woman on a revenge mission in a story centered on a mother-daughter duo.

Directed by debutant Charan Tej Uppalapati, the film also stars Prabhu Deva, Naseeruddin Shah, Samyuktha, Jisshu Sengupta, Aditya Seal, Pramod Pathak and Chhaya Kadam. Produced by Baweja Studios and E7 Entertainments, the movie will release in multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Court shields Shilpa Shetty from deepfakes, orders takedown of misuse online

MUMBAI, India — The Bombay High Court has stepped in to protect actress Shilpa Shetty’s personality rights, issuing an order that blocks the misuse of her name, image, voice, likeness, or persona across digital platforms.

The court directed that any defamatory or infringing content involving the actress be immediately removed, stressing that a public figure’s identity cannot be commercially exploited or manipulated online without consent. The ruling also places responsibility on digital platforms and intermediaries to quickly take down such unlawful material.

Supreme Court lawyer Sana Raees Khan, who represents Shetty, welcomed the decision and called it a strong message against deepfakes and digital impersonation.

“The Bombay High Court has made it absolutely clear in Ms. Shilpa Shetty’s personality rights case that the internet cannot become a playground for deepfakes and digital impersonation. The Court has protected her personality rights and acknowledged that her name, image, voice, and persona are valuable legal rights which cannot be commercially exploited or digitally manipulated without her consent,” Khan said.

“This order reinforces that digital platforms and intermediaries must act swiftly to remove such material and must restrain the misuse of technology that violates her dignity and reputation,” she added.

Shetty first approached the Bombay High Court in November 2025 seeking protection from the unauthorized use of her identity online. During the proceedings, the court also raised questions about the legal standing of artificial intelligence tools used to simulate celebrity personalities without permission.

The actress joins a growing list of Bollywood figures who have secured similar legal protections, including Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Abhishek Bachchan, and Salman Khan.

MUMBAI, India — Actress and model Lisa Ray is flipping the script on aging, saying midlife isn’t a crisis but the moment when women finally step into their power.

Lisa Ray

The actress shared a reflective post on social media along with a photo of herself dressed elegantly in a sari, opening up about how growing older has helped her embrace authenticity, self-worth and inner peace.

“What no one tells you about Midlife… When estrogen drops, so does people-pleasing. Self-doubt gets quieter. Peace gets louder. Standards rise. Boundaries hold,” she wrote.

Ray went on to say that midlife brings clarity and confidence.

“Midlife: when the hormones exit and the nonsense goes with them. Less apologising. Less auditioning. More self-worth. More no. More peace,” she added.

Calling it a turning point for women, Ray concluded, “Midlife isn’t a crisis. It’s the main character energy. Act Two — and finally, it’s ours. Call it what it is — the most important act of a woman’s life.”
