Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde headline chaotic love triangle in ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’

Mumbai— The makers of the upcoming romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai released the official trailer on Saturday, offering a glimpse into a chaotic love triangle led by Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde.

The film marks the fourth collaboration between Varun Dhawan and his father, director David Dhawan, following Main Tera Hero (2014), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Coolie No. 1 (2020).

A classic family entertainer, the ensemble also features Mouni Roy, Chunky Panday, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Rakesh Bedi, and Ali Asgar in key supporting roles.

Director David Dhawan said the film reflects his continued passion for comedy-driven cinema. “This is my 46th film, and entertaining my audience continues to give me the biggest joy. The film has all the ingredients of a classic family entertainer — humour, confusion, music, and heart,” he said.

Producer Ramesh Taurani added that the aim was to deliver a light-hearted, crowd-pleasing entertainer. “With Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, we wanted to create a wholesome film filled with laughter, music, romance, and family fun. We’re excited for audiences to experience its energy and madness,” he said.

Produced under the banner of Tips Films Ltd in association with Maximilian Films (UK), the film continues Dhawan’s signature style of situational comedy and mistaken identities.

The trailer opens with Varun Dhawan in a seemingly happy marriage with Mrunal Thakur, but the relationship quickly spirals into divorce proceedings as her character grows frustrated with his over-the-top affection and his desire for fatherhood.

The narrative takes a twist when Varun crosses paths with Pooja Hegde’s character and falls for her, setting up a complicated chain of relationships. In a comedic turn of events, his longing for a family leads him into an unexpected situation involving both women’s children.

Slated for a theatrical release on June 5, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai promises a fast-paced mix of romance, confusion, and slapstick humour aimed at family audiences.
