US Ambassador Sergio Gor Meets Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri
New Delhi — U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in New Delhi on Monday as the two countries continue diplomatic engagement on bilateral, regional and global issues.
“Always good to meet with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri,” Gor wrote on X while sharing an image from the meeting.
No further details about the discussions were immediately released.
The meeting came amid a series of high-level exchanges between India and the United States. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with U.S. Vice President JD Vance about ways to deepen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
Modi also congratulated Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, on the birth of their son and conveyed his best wishes to the family.
“Received a phone call from US Vice-President JD Vance. We discussed ways to further deepen India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership across key areas. Warmly congratulated him and the Second Lady on the birth of their son and conveyed best wishes to the entire family,” Modi wrote on X.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi and Vance noted the continued pace of high-level engagement and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, defense, critical and emerging technologies, energy security and critical minerals.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, the PMO said.
The latest engagement follows a July meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meetings in Manila.
During those talks, the two sides agreed to accelerate work on key defense agreements and advance negotiations on an interim bilateral trade deal. They also discussed developments in the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific, according to the U.S. State Department. (Source: IANS)
