US Ambassador Sergio Gor Meets Ajit Doval to Discuss Strategic Cooperation
New Delhi — U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Tuesday for talks focused on strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Following the meeting, Gor said the India-U.S. partnership remains important in addressing shared security concerns and broader global challenges.
“Had a fruitful meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to discuss deepening US-India strategic cooperation. Our close partnership with India is vital to addressing global security challenges. The United States and India share many of the same goals and our engagement continues to grow,” Gor wrote on X.
The meeting followed Gor’s talks with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Monday as diplomatic engagement between New Delhi and Washington continues amid a range of regional and international developments.
“Always good to meet with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri,” Gor said in a separate social media post.
The latest meetings come days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Aug. 8. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
Modi also congratulated Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, on the birth of their son and extended his best wishes to their family.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi and Vance noted the continued momentum in high-level exchanges and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, defense, critical and emerging technologies, energy security and critical minerals.
They also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, the PMO said.
The discussions follow a July meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meetings in Manila.
During those talks, the two sides agreed to accelerate work on key defense agreements and advance negotiations on an interim bilateral trade deal. They also reviewed developments in the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific, according to the U.S. State Department. (Source: IANS)
