NEEDHAM, MA–The United India Association of New England celebrated the New Year and the New Decade with over 300 guests on New Year’s Eve in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Needham, MA.
The ‘Bollywood Ball’ went well into the night, and the dance floor was still hoping past 1am! Guests enjoyed a fun photoshoot with a photographer, and an array of glowing tiaras, necklaces, finger lights and masks to kick off the festivities. Lavish appetizers and sprawling delicious dinner by Gourmet India was available all night long, as well as a separate children’s buffet in the Children’s junior ballroom.
Children also enjoyed a fully supervised movie time, arts and crafts and games. Guests enjoyed superb entertainment, and hit the dance floor for hours of music provided by DJ Rishi.
Before the countdown to 2020 began, the Board members of the United India Association distributed party favors, hats and tiaras to all the guests, creating a sparkling sea of gold, silver and black flowing through the entire ballroom. Then the countdown to the new decade began, and the dance floor exploded with excitement.
Everyone was on their feet and hugs and kisses were given to all family and friends. A group of young children wished the crowd a “Happy New Year”! In the 1980’s the United India Association was filling a much needed void, as there was no Indian New Year’s Eve event, but now that our numbers have increased and our community is stronger, there are multiple options, so the UIANE strives to create the best quality event for New Year’s Eve, one of the organization’s signature events.
This was the final event organized by outgoing President Rakashi Chand, after completing her second term as President of the United India Association of New England.
Ms. Chand welcomed the crowd, thanked everyone for attending, and also thanked the community for their trust and support over the past two years, promising to continue to serve the Indian Community every day, by promoting and sharing culture while also advocating for the Community, in the footsteps of her grandfather, a great community leader, Mr. H. L. Khetarpal, who served as both a founder of UIANE and a President of IAGB.
