U.S., India Strengthen Defense Ties During Pacific Air Forces Chief’s Visit

NEW DELHI — The United States and India have further strengthened their defense partnership following a recent visit by U.S. Pacific Air Forces Commander Gen. Kevin Schneider, the U.S. Embassy said.

During his April 19–25 trip to India, Schneider met senior Indian defense officials, including leaders from the Indian Air Force, to reinforce longstanding military ties and explore ways to expand operational cooperation.

The embassy said the visit highlights the growing scope and complexity of defense collaboration between the two countries across air, land, sea, space and cyber domains, reflecting deeper interoperability and coordination.

“A key focus of General Schneider’s visit was advancing logistics cooperation between the two countries. Strengthened logistics frameworks and agreements enable more seamless coordination, improving readiness and supporting rapid, coordinated responses to humanitarian crises and regional contingencies,” the embassy said in a statement.

Officials said increased cooperation is enhancing both nations’ ability to deliver timely assistance and maintain a strong operational presence across the Indo-Pacific region.

Schneider also toured operational and training facilities during the visit, underscoring rising integration and trust between U.S. and Indian forces. The engagements reflect a shared commitment to modernizing military capabilities and preparing for emerging security challenges.

“The United States values India as a vital partner in promoting peace, security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. This visit reaffirms the enduring strength of the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership and signals continued momentum in expanding defense collaboration to meet evolving regional and global challenges,” the embassy said.
