Apple’s India Hiring Signals Deeper AI and Engineering Ambitions
NEW DELHI — Apple is expanding its technology footprint in India, with recent hiring focused on artificial intelligence, data platforms, software engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, Apple Ads, Siri language capabilities and manufacturing intelligence, according to a new report.
The report from GlobalData said Apple’s recruitment activity points to a growing role for India in the company’s advanced engineering and operational technology efforts.
“Apple’s hiring pattern suggests that India is playing a larger role in supporting Apple’s global engineering ecosystem, while also helping the company strengthen market-specific capabilities,” said Sherla Sriprada, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData.
“The roles suggest that India is becoming more central to Apple’s global technology ecosystem, from software platforms and AI-led innovation to manufacturing intelligence and localized user experiences,” Sriprada said.
The Cupertino, California-based technology company posted several India-based roles in July and August 2026, with AI and data-platform positions emerging as a key area of focus.
Among the openings were “Software Site Reliability Engineer – AI & Data Platforms” roles focused on developing and operating large-scale data platforms that support analytics, reporting and AI and machine-learning applications.
Apple also sought a “Senior Software Engineering Manager – Manufacturing Intelligence, Agentic Systems & Physical AI,” covering intelligent manufacturing systems, AI-powered applications, agentic workflows, robotics, machine learning and factory-edge systems.
The company’s hiring also points to a broader expansion of software and platform engineering capabilities. Multiple senior software engineering roles were posted for work involving scalable backend systems, distributed architecture, ad-delivery infrastructure and customer technology platforms.
Apple has also been recruiting for cloud, data and automation roles in India. Openings for data engineers and infrastructure automation engineers highlighted work involving cloud-native platforms, database reliability, data pipelines, infrastructure automation, continuous integration and delivery, observability and developer productivity.
Beyond engineering, Apple is also strengthening operational and market-support functions in India, with openings including Supply Demand Management Planner, PR Manager, People Business Partner and Executive Assistant. (Source: IANS)
