Chennai– The trailer of director Ram’s much-anticipated film Paranthu Po was unveiled on Thursday, offering a delightful glimpse into the heartwarming family entertainer starring Mirchi Shiva, Anjali, Grace Antony, and child actor Mitul Ryan.
The trailer opens with a charming scene where young Anbu (Mitul Ryan) asks his parents to promise that they will stay in a village. When they curiously ask what he means by “village,” Anbu replies: “The place where there’s a hill, a pond, a football ground, and friends to play with.”
Mischievous, curious, and brutally honest, Anbu is a quintessential child whose endless questions keep his parents on their toes. The trailer captures his loving but cash-strapped father (Mirchi Shiva) taking him on a motorbike ride, and hints at the warm generational bond between Anbu’s father and grandfather (played by Balaji Sakthivel).
The trailer concludes with a message from director Ram: “For every parent struggling to succeed for their kids…” — setting the emotional tone of a feel-good, musical comedy that celebrates family, dreams, and resilience.
Paranthu Po marks a significant departure for director Ram, known for intense dramas like Kattradhu Thamizh. This film is his first foray into the comedy genre.
Speaking about his collaboration with Shiva, Ram said: “Shiva and I began our careers in 2007—he with Chennai 28 and I with Kattradhu Thamizh. Back then, he interviewed me as a Radio Mirchi RJ. We’ve remained friends since, and always wanted to work together. Finally, it happened with Paranthu Po in 2024.”
Ram also shared his excitement about the film’s ensemble cast: “Grace Antony, with her natural comic timing, was my perfect choice. Anjali has always been supportive. Aju Varghese and Vijay Yesudas made both the shoot and dubbing smooth. I’m also proud to introduce Master Mitul Ryan, a truly gifted young actor. Audiences will be surprised by his natural performance.”
He credited Hotstar for supporting his vision: “Collaborating with Hotstar has been a pleasant and creatively fulfilling experience. They trusted my script and gave me the space to stay true to it.”
The film features a background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja and music by Santhosh Dhayanithi. Cinematography is by NK Ekhambram, editing by Mathi VS, and lyrics by Madhan Karky. Stunt Silva has choreographed the action sequences.
