BOSTON—The husband and wife team of Sanjay and Sumeit Aggarwal are relatively new to the American India Foundation (AIF), but are working hard and excited about the upcoming 17th Annual New England Gala on April 29, 2-23 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, as its Chair this year.

The Gala will highlight how AIF is rebuilding lives that were disrupted during the pandemic, creating resilient communities and allowing beneficiaries to imagine new futures.

In an exclusive video interview with INDIA New England News, Aggarwal talk about what attracted them to AIF a few years ago and why should one attend the gala.

Sumeit is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Finhive, a social enterprise dedicated to providing financial education to women and teenagers and financial strategies to women owned Startups.

She is deeply passionate about embedding personal values into investing, and frequently presents on related topics including Sustainable investing, financial health spectrum, and designing financial systems for an overall improved personal finance life. Sumeit was featured by Babson College for fighting the gender investment gap.

Sanjay is Senior Director of Public Affairs at American Tower Corporation. In this role, he represents the company before principal international trade associations and the U.S. presidential administration. He has coordinated American Tower’s U.S.-side leadership at the U.S.-India CEO Forum since 2015.

He leads the company’s engagement with multilateral organizations, including World Economic Forum and the United Nations.

AIF’s Livelihoods programs are providing rural women a platform to build their social identity and financial capital, nurturing them into entrepreneurs. AIF’s Maternal and Newborn Survival Initiative (MANSI) is promoting Nutri-gardens in community centers and households, in the remotest of tribal villages. These Vatikas have the potential to simultaneously address the multiple goals of diet diversity, nutrition security, agri-food cultivation, and environmental sustainability.

AIF’s Education programs are empowering girl students with advanced STEM skills, including training on PICO satellite and drone technology, to catalyze their pursuit of education and career in STEM.

AIF has received several special honors recently, including the CSR Universe Social Impact Awards 2022 across key categories in Education, Skill Development & Livelihood for conceptualizing and executing two of the best CSR projects during FY 2021-22. In addition, AIF has also been recognized as one of the Top 20 NGOs in India for its relentless efforts toward catalyzing social and economic change by The Indian CSR Awards 2022.

AIF has received Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating (the highest level) for demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
