GROTON, MA—Groton’s Sai Temple, which successfully completed its masonry block sponsorship program and raised over $65,000, has launched a campaign to raise funds for building its kitchen and dining hall that will provide provide free food (Prasadam)on Thursdays and during festival and special events.
On Thursdays, about 300 to 600 devotees are fed prasad cooked by many devoted volunteers in its rented facility in Chelmsford, MA. All the devotees take the meal as prasad with great satisfaction. Once the new temple ‘s construction completes later this year, this kitchen services will be relocated to the new facility.
Donors and devotees will have an opportunity to contribute towards building the 5,000-square-foot kitchen and dining hall. The construction cost is $65 per square feet. Recently, 1,300 devotees, volunteers and community activists participated in the 12-week masonry brick campaign and raised over $65,000. For more information, visit: www.NESSP.org .
The new Sai temple is a giant construction project in Massachusetts, with exterior walls and framing nearly complete. Volunteers of New England Shirdi Sai Parviaar, known as NESSP that is building the temple, are planning to have a grand inaugural ceremony July 2017.
The two-story, 40,000-square-foot temple is being built on a 28-acre site. The temple currently operates out of a 7,200-square-foot rented facility in Chelmsford, and will relocate to the new facility when it is completed in July 2017. NESSP acquired the land for $1.14 million and plans to spend an additional $10 million to build the new complex. As of now, the temple has raised over $7.5 million.
