LEXINGTON, MA–Indian artist Vikram Hazra will perform in Lexington’s Cary Hall on November 5th at the Song of the Soul Concert in Lexington, MA,  to raise funds to fight sex trafficking.

Hazra is one of the foremost names in spiritual and world music, with 15 albums and packed concerts in 49 countries to date.  His performances in India are known to draw tens of thousands of people.  He is credited as being the first to introduce the electric guitar and a jazz-rock sensibility into Indian devotional music, and his music is often considered ecstatic – giving audiences a meditative, transcendental experience.

With his 10-stop U.S. tour Hazra is on a mission to raise funds for Project Udaan, a program giving girls a haven from sex trafficking – specifically focused on Sonagachi, the largest red light district in Asia.  100% of the proceeds from the tour will go to Project Udaan.  Hazra has waived his usual performance fee and the organizers in each city are relying on volunteers and word of mouth to keep the cost of the production as low as possible.

Project Udaan is an initiative of Overseas Volunteers for a Better India.  More info can be found at www.projectudaan.org.
