Sowmya Shri and Nidhi Tare to Sing at Woman of the Year Awards Gala on Friday

BURLINGTON, MA—Two of New England’s talented singers—Sowmya Shri  and Nidhi Tare—will sing at the Woman of the Year Awards gala on Friday, May 26, at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA. The duo has performed at numerous local musical concerts in New England.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Sowmya and Nidhi in Mohan Subramaniam show for last few years,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, MD, hostess of the Woman of the Year Awards gala. “They are both excellent artists and we are very excited about their debut performance in Woman of the year event.”

Shri was the runners up of the musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Televised on Zee TV kannada. She has has performed in all the Kannada TV channels. She has also lent her voice to several musical shows and movies as a playback singer. Through her journey she has performed and accompanied several renowned artists and singers such as Rajesh Krishnan, Ganesh Desai, Hemanth Kumar, Kunal Ganjawala, Guru Kiran, L.N.Shastry, Ram Prasad, Sunitha, M.D.Pallavi, Archana Udupa and others.

Shri’s musical journey started at the age of 3 under the able guidance of her mother Smt.Shylaja Sudarshan. Through this journey she has earned various accolades preforming in various genres of Indian music. Performing on several prestigious platforms such as Nithyotsava on Dooradarshan, BhaavaSangama on ETV Kannada to name a few.

Shri is professionally trained in Hindusthani classical under Shyamala Bhave,Geetha Hegde and currently learning from Sri. Surmani Dattatreya Velankar ji and Light music from Raju Ananthaswamy. Sowmya is based out of Boston, MA and has given number of Kannada and Hindi musical shows all over the United States.

Nidhi Tare

Nidhi Tare won Boston Sargam and was a runner up at Hindi Manch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa after moving to Boston. She was a semi-finalist in the all USA marathi mandal singing competition in 2013. She has done many musical shows in Boston.

Born and brought up in Indore, M.P, Tare has been singing since she was 6 years old . She has received some basic training in music while in school. She has huge interest in learning classical and semi-classical bollywood songs.

By profession, Tare is a Senior Computer Scientist working at Adobe Systems for past four years.
