Sonu Nigam Makes Hindi-Haryanvi Debut With New Song ‘Chunni’

Mumbai — Veteran playback singer Sonu Nigam has entered the Hindi-Haryanvi music space for the first time with his latest song, “Chunni,” a romantic track blending mainstream and regional musical influences.

Nigam said the song reflects the different ways cultures express and celebrate love through music.

“Chunni is a fun song adorned with beautiful melodic structure and lyrics full of romance. I love the beats and the frolic they exude. Here’s my first of the many more such musical offerings coming up,” Nigam said.

The song was released through Nigam’s I Believe Music label in partnership with Warner Music India and Global Music Junction. It also features Haryanvi singer Renuka Panwar.

Rajan Navani, Chairman of JetSynthesys, said the collaboration is aimed at bringing regional Indian music to a wider audience.

“Chunni’ is a celebration of India’s rich regional music and storytelling traditions. Through Global Music Junction, we have been able to strengthen and scale the impact of our regional creators, taking authentic regional music and artists to wider audiences with meaningful cultural collaborations,” Navani said.

He added that the collaboration with Nigam is intended to help bring Haryanvi music to international audiences while retaining its regional identity.

Rajkumar Singh, CEO of Global Music Junction, said the company has focused on expanding the reach of Indian regional music while creating collaborations between mainstream and regional performers.

“Chunni is a natural extension of that vision. We are delighted to bring together Sonu Nigam & Renuka Panwar, on a song that celebrates the vibrancy of Haryanvi music and its growing cultural influence,” Singh said.

He added that such collaborations can broaden the audience for regional music while highlighting India’s linguistic and cultural diversity.

Nigam has recorded songs in more than 30 languages during his career and has worked across a wide range of musical genres. “Chunni” marks his first release specifically in the Hindi-Haryanvi space.

The song is available on major audio and video streaming platforms. (Source: IANS)
