NEW DELHI– Indian fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have climbed to career-high positions in the ICC Test rankings following their match-winning performances in India’s thrilling six-run victory over England in the fifth Test at The Oval.
Siraj, who claimed 9-190 and earned the Player of the Match award, jumped 12 spots to a career-best 15th place with 674 rating points. Krishna, who took four wickets in England’s second innings, rose to a personal best of 59th. The pair also became only the second Indian duo to take four or more wickets each in both innings of a Test match, a feat previously achieved by spin greats Bishan Singh Bedi and Erapalli Prasanna against Australia in Delhi in 1969.
England pacers Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue also reached new career highs after taking eight wickets each in the match. Atkinson broke into the top 10 for the first time, while Tongue jumped 14 spots to 46th.
In the batting rankings, England’s Joe Root retained the top spot, while Harry Brook’s 98-ball 111 lifted him back to second. India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to fifth after his second-innings 118 at The Oval.
Elsewhere, New Zealand seamer Matt Henry moved to a career-best fourth place, surpassing 800 rating points for the first time after taking nine wickets in a win over Zimbabwe. Teammate Daryl Mitchell re-entered the top 10 batters after scoring 80 in the same match.
In the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, Pakistan batters Hasan Nawaz (up 24 places to 30th), Saim Ayub (up 25 spots to joint-37th), and Sahibzada Farhan (up 34 spots to 63rd) made significant gains after their 2-1 series win over the West Indies. Left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem jumped 69 places to joint-34th, while Mohammad Nawaz climbed 51 spots to 56th after back-to-back three-wicket hauls that earned him Player of the Series honors.
