Satya Sundarannedi Sells Udupi in Nashua to Biriyani Pot, Gets Out of Indian Restaurant Business in Order to Focus on Sports Bar and Fusion Food

NASHUA, MA—Indian restaurateur Satya Sundarannedi has sold his flagship Udupi restaurant in Nashua, NH to Biryani Pot of Framingham, MA, and is getting out of the Indian restaurant business in order to focus on sports bar and and fusion food.

“I am getting out of Indian restaurant business and getting into sports bar and fusion food,” Sundarannedi told INDIA New England News.

He confirmed that his 75-seat Udupi, located at 295 Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua, has been sold to Biryani Pot of Framingham. Sundarannedi also said that Chettinad Indian Grill in Burlington, MA, which he had started a few years ago, has been also sold to Singh Ching.

Sundarannedi is opening a new restaurant called Royal Tavern in the former location of popular Pongal restaurant at 786 Boston Post Road in Billerica, MA. He said Royal Tavern should open a few weeks.

In an earlier interview, Sundarannedi had told INDIA New England News that Royal Tavern will be a tapas bar with Indian fusion food.

The Pongal, which specialized in preparing traditional dishes from the southern India, had been a popular restaurant in the area and had closed down.
