MUMBAI– Sara Tendulkar, daughter of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, is stepping into a new era of the sport by joining the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL) as the owner of the Mumbai franchise. While her connection to cricket runs deep, Sara is now carving her own identity in the evolving world of digital cricket.

Speaking at a recent GEPL event in Bengaluru, Sara shared the stage with Rajan Navani, Founder and CEO of JetSynthesys, for a rare public conversation. She reflected on her lifelong bond with the game and her vision for its future in the digital space.

“Cricket has always been more than a sport in my home,” she said. “Maybe it really does run in my DNA. I grew up watching it, living it — and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be in bringing people together.” Sara has long been immersed in the world of cricket, closely following the careers of her father, Sachin, and brother, Arjun.

When asked about her decision to back the Mumbai franchise, she explained that the choice was deeply personal. “Mumbai is where I was born. It’s my home, and there’s something incredibly special about being able to represent it. This isn’t just about being part of a new format — it’s about pushing the game forward in a way that reflects today’s world.”

Sara sees e-cricket as an exciting new chapter for the sport. “It’s fast-paced, interactive, and evolving — just like the world we live in. What excites me most is how it gives young people more ways to engage with cricket — whether that’s as players, content creators, or fans.”

In addition to her role with GEPL, Sara is also involved with the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, furthering her commitment to creating meaningful impact through sport and education.

She ended with a message of encouragement to young women who may be inspired by her journey: “Do what you love. Don’t be afraid to step into new spaces, speak up, and take risks. Even if you fail, that’s okay — there’s strength in simply showing up and trying.”

With her entry into e-cricket, Sara Tendulkar is embracing a new frontier in the sport while staying rooted in the legacy that shaped her — a modern voice for a game that’s rapidly transforming. (Source: IANS)
