WOBURN, MA–Nirbhaya, the Saheli fundraising gala this Friday, Dec, 8, is gearing up to be a highlight of this holiday season, say organizers of the event.

In between mingling with community leaders and old friends over cocktails and a dinner spread catered by Masala Art, here are some things you can expect:

Jayshree Bala Rajamani

Entertainment from artists that support Saheli’s mission

Expect a dazzling performance from dancer and instructor Jayshree Bala Rajamani, who has choreographed a special piece just for this event. Television actress and reality star Priti Amin will also debut a short film produced for Saheli.

Stories from survivors and supporters

The work Saheli does is incredibly important and deeply affects the lives of women and families, in particular those that have experienced domestic abuse. At Nirbhaya, you will hear from a few of these survivors, who have courageously agreed to share their stories.

Dipti Mehta

Actress and writer Dipti Mehta will deliver the keynote address. Mehta is known for her commitment to using drama and the arts to bring attention to social injustice, in particular through her award-winning one-woman play, HONOUR: Confessions of a Mumbai Courtesan.

Honoring special guests and other “Thank You’s” for your support

Saheli will also be taking this opportunity to honor some guests, including Lahey Clinic and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care for the grants they have provided, and the Burlington Police Department, who have supported Saheli’s efforts for 15 years.

Most importantly, this will be a time for Saheli to show attendees like you their gratitude. The organization will explain just how much of a difference your hard-earned support makes, and share its future strategy and vision.

Be sure to stick around after dinner to catch a few surprises lined up by the Saheli team, and dance into the evening to the beats of DJ Yogz, one of New England’s most popular DJs.

Come dressed in your Indian or Western festive attire, and remember to capture the memory in the photo booth before you go.
