Renowned Actress Deepti Naval to Attend Hindi Manch National Convention in Boston

WALTHAM, MA– Renowned Bollywood actress Deepti Naval, who starred in Chashme Buddoor, Saath Saath, Kissi Se Na Kehna, Katha and Rang Birangi, among other hit films, will attend Hindi Manch National Convention in Boston scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 2, 2018.

Ms. Naval, who also is a poetess and writer, will grace the poetry event at the three-day convention that will provide a platform for undiscovered but promising US-based poets in Hindi, Urdu and related dialects like Awadhi, Brijbhasha, Bhojpuri, Khadiboli and Bundelkhandi, among others.

Dubbed as Hindi Manch Rashtriya Mahotsav, or HMRM, the poetry segment will be the country’s first poetry event that will provide a platform for budding poets. At the event, Ms. Naval will be joined by Aalok Shrivastav, a well-known Hindi poet

from India.

“Sahitya Vibhaag (of Hindi Manch) has hosted several Sahithyik Goshthis and organized Hindi Sahitya Sammelan annually in the past featuring Boston talent,” said Hindi Manch President Preetesh Shrivastava. “What makes this year unique is that we are inviting entries from all over the US and we will fly selected poets to Boston. Our aim is to not just promote but recognize and foster both established and budding poets within the US. I take pride that HMRM will provide voice to local talent and create synergies for future collaborations.”

Hindi Manch is inviting entries from all over the United States for the Sahitya Sammelan Poetry Recital. The recital should be original work of the poet but the format can be a Kavita, Geet, Ghazal or Nazm in Hindi or Urdu. All genres including satire and humor are welcome.

Talking about the application and selection process, Maneesh Srivastava, chair of Sahitya Sammelan, said: “A selection panel of renowned poets in India will be evaluating all the entries and select nine poets of their choice that will get once in a lifetime opportunity to recite their poetry along side Deepti ji and Aalok ji.”

Participants can submit their entries through Hindi Manch website www.hindimanch.org or email – sahitya@hindimanch.org in Devanagari script in a pdf format stating name, age, city and state of residence. A video clip of approximately two minutes of the same must be sent along with the pdf. Alternatively, a web link (YouTube etc.) of the recital can also be shared. All entries will be masked when sent for review to the panel, so please refrain from mentioning your names in the video.

Organizers are also inviting entries to be featured in Hindi Manch Rashtriya Mahotsav Patrika under the following categories:

Category 1 – Kavita Category

Category 2 – Laghu Katha (short Stories)

Age groups for both the categories are: (1) Up to 10, (2) 10 – 18 and  (3) 18+

“Our organization promotes and appreciates freedom of expression but we encourage poets to refrain from using any content that may hurt political or religious sentiments of people,” said Mr. Shrivastava.
