Radio Music India Presents Classical Vocalist Arati Ankalikar Tikekar on June 4th

Arati_Ankalikar_bwCONCORD, MA– Radio Music India is presenting classical vocalist Arati Ankalikar Tikekar on Saturday, June 4th,, in Concord, MA. It will be an evening of Hindustani classical vocal music, featuring Tikekar, a versatile vocalist of the Jaipur Gharana.

Other artists include Kedar Naphade on the Harmoniumand Suryaksha Deshpande on  the Tabla. The event will be held on Saturday, June 4th, at 6:00 PM at Thoreau School located at 29 Prairie St, Concord, MA.

The admission fees are: premium – $50; General – $30; and Students and Children – $20. Free boxed dinner and tea will provided.

Tikekar is currently regarded as one of the top vocalists of the younger generation. She started her training with veteran Late Pandit Vasantrao Kulkarni of the Agra Gwalior gharanas. Thereafter she received advanced training from Gana Saraswati Smt Kishori Amonkar of the Jaipur Atrauli gharana.  Tikekar has performed at many prestigious conferences in India, such as the Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav, the Malhar Utsav, Tansen Samaroh, the Dover Lane Festival. She has been on concert tours in USA, Canada, UK and UAE, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries. She has received the prestigious Pt.Kumar Gandharva Sanman and Pt. Jasraj Award.

She was the main playback singer for the Sham Benegal’s film, “Sardari Begum.”She has received National Award (best playback singer) for the Konkani film ‘Anternaad’,based on the life of a classical singer.
