HOUSTON, TX-President Donald Trump will address “Howdy, Modi!” on Sept. 22, organizers of the event said in a statement.
“The Texas India Forum is excited to welcome President Donald J. Trump to address over
50,000 Americans as we host Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India in Houston on September
22 at NRG Stadium,” the statement said. “This unique event brings together the President of the world’s most influential democracy, the Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy, and a bipartisan delegation of Governors, Members of Congress, Mayors, and other public officials.”
The statement said that the “Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures” Community Summit attendees represent 48 states, coming together to emphasize the shared values and aspirations of two great nations whose partnership is important to global peace, prosperity, and human progress.
Titled “Howdy Modi!”, the event is hosted by the Texas India Forum, and is being promoted as a community summit. It is expected to be the biggest ever gathering of Indian Americans in the US. Previously, the organizers had announced that on Modi will speak at the event.
According to organisers, the event, billed as the biggest diaspora event ever addressed by Modi abroad, the live audience will be the largest for an Indian Prime Minister in North America and the largest for a foreign leader visiting the US, other than the Pope.
This will be Modi’s second trip to Houston, where he had earlier taken part in the ground-breaking ceremony of the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir.
