NEW YORK, NY— Bostonian Sunayana Kachroo will offer a poetic narration at Ustad Vilayat Khan‘s 20th Anniversary Concert at New York City’s famous Carnegie Hall’s Newest Venue: 599-seat Zankel Hall, on March 2nd, 2024.

This significant event is produced by Sneh Arts to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan. Crafted by Sunny Thakkar of Sneh Arts, the event seems to be promising an evening of emotional resonance and musical excellence.

Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall’s newest venue opened in 2003 and has become one of the hottest places in New York City to see chamber music, recitals, and the latest contemporary sounds from classical, pop, jazz, and world music artists.

Sunayana Kachroo

The opening tribute to Ustad Vilayat Khan will immerse the audience in a combination of music, audio-visuals, and poetic narration, skillfully performed by the Mausiqui Ensemble.

Featuring Hidayat Khan, Jay Gandhi, Abhik Mukherjee, Ehren Hanson, and Enayet Hossain, the ensemble will pay homage to the maestro in a soulful manner. The poetic narration by Sunayana Kachroo will add a literary touch, enriching the emotional tapestry of the tribute.

“This program is a  small glimpse in the infinite ocean of Indian classical music,” said Ms. Kachroo. “I am honored to have this opportunity to be a part of this illustrious Ensemble.. The Mausiqui Ensemble.”

Nitin Mitta

The program will reach its pinnacle with a spellbinding sitar recital by the internationally acclaimed Nishat Khan, accompanied by the rhythmic tabla beats of Nitin Mitta. This musical collaboration promises to be a poignant and fitting conclusion to an evening dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Ustad Vilayat Khan.

This unique program is being co-presented by Sneh Arts and the Ustad Vilayat Khan Foundation, a testament to their shared commitment to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Indian classical music. Together, they ensure a comprehensive and authentic tribute to the maestro, emphasizing his enduring impact on the world of music.
