  1. An appeal for the support of Sponsorship to Education Program
    “Facilitation & Training Approaches for Community Change”
    at Coady International Institute, Canada.

    PARIVARTHANA is a registered voluntary organization established in 1994 to create a new world where there is no caste, creed, race, religion discrimination, but only humanitarian ship. It aimed at sustainable development of rural poor.

    Parivarthana have been striving since last 23 year to improve the quality of life of the rural communities in 90 villages of selected blocks of Shimoga and Haveri Districts. Our intervention includes, community organizing, promoting savings and thrift among women, income generation programs (IGP), women and children development, rural literacy, natural resource management, community health and hygiene, sustainable agriculture, awareness on child rights.

    Ongoing program of Parivarthana ‘Women Empowerment’ lead to restoring land rights of landless, small and marginalized farmers through people centered advocacy. Based on our experience and learning in development sector over last three decades, I learnt that,

    (i) It is important to build a close relationship between Parivarthana’s staff and the various members of the target groups. When a cordial and proper understanding exists between the supporting organization and the target group only and can a proper change can take place with high quality in a sustainable way.;

    (ii) More impact can be attained provided Parivarthana and the target group leaders build proper rapport with other stake holders- government officials, civil society organizations ,media etc.

    (iii) Various trainings, courses, workshops, exposure visits, have to be organized and conducted must be more focused on quality rather than quantity.

    (iv) It is important that women are given ample practical and moral support to come forward and to take initiatives for their own development. Parivarthana has also experienced that while support is furnished to women for their own personal development, at the same time, it is important to train and counsel the men to become more supportive towards the women.

    (v) If the marginalized community more consciously network with other vulnerable people and their organizations, much more can be accomplished rather than doing this kind of work on their own.

    Over the years, I have been learning by working with target group as a reflective practitioner. To enrich my learning and experiences, I have been constantly exploring opportunities available in prestigious institutions /Universities worldwide.

    I am happy that I have selected by Coady International Institute, Canada for two weeks Program on ‘Facilitation & Training Approaches for Community Change’ October 10, 2017 – October 25, 2017. Viz; • Learn participatory design and facilitation techniques; •Strengthen knowledge of theories, principles and practices of transformative, emancipatory adult education and participatory training; • Build skills to recognize and demonstrate different curriculum design theories and practices, with particular emphasis on participatory approaches; • Learn creative strategies for analyzing issues and overcoming challenges experienced in facilitation and training in the field. • Design and implement process facilitation within our community and organization; • Develop local and international strategies for inter-agency collaboration and networking in participatory education and training.

    This certificate Program is designed primarily for experienced facilitators and trainers, and those who do a significant amount of facilitation in their work who want to explore new theories, principles and practices in participatory adult education and training approaches.
