India Finance Minister to Speak at Harvard Forum on Global Economic Strategy

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s finance minister, will take part in a public forum at Harvard University examining the country’s economic strategy in an increasingly multipolar world.

The event, titled “India’s Economic Strategy in a Multipolar World,” will be hosted as part of the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Harvard Kennedy School. The discussion will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person attendance and online viewing.

Sitharaman will be joined in conversation by Gita Gopinath, the Gregory and Ania Coffey Professor of Economics, who will serve as moderator.

The forum will focus on how India—one of the fastest-growing major economies in recent years—is navigating a shifting global landscape marked by changing geopolitical dynamics and evolving economic rules. Organizers say the discussion will explore how the country is sustaining economic growth while adapting to new global challenges.

Attendance for the in-person event is limited to those with a valid Harvard email address, while the forum will be livestreamed publicly on YouTube.

The John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum regularly brings global leaders, policymakers and scholars to campus to discuss pressing international issues, offering students and the public an opportunity to engage with key figures shaping the global economy.
