Nominations for the 17th Annual 20 Outstanding Women and Woman of the Year 2019 is Now Open

WALTHAM, MA– INDIA New England News, one of the nation’s largest digital, print and video magazines for Indian-Americans and South Asians, announced that nomination for the 17th annual 20 Outstanding Women and Woman of the Year 2019 is now open.

On May 17, 2019 at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA, INDIA New England News will honor 20 outstanding women in various categories. A panel of independent judges will choose the 2019 Woman of the Year from these honorees.

“If you know one or more Indian and South Asian women who have played an important role in business, their community or culture, let us know who they are,” said Upendra Mishra, producer of the Woman of the Year Awards gala and publisher of INDIA New England News and its sister publications IndUs Business Journal, Hispanic Business Journal and Boston Real Estate Times.

The deadline for nominations is March 11, 2019, at 12 midnight. The winners will be chosen based on their contributions to the community, culture, organizations, business and their personal and professional achievements in diverse fields including art, academics, health care, politics, business and charity work. The list of finalists will be announced on March 30. To be eligible for these awards, your nominee must be a resident of New England.

“I have always said that my life changed after I became Woman of the Year in 2011. It inspired me to join the team and it has truly been an enormous honor for me to direct and host the event since 2013,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, MD, a physician at Lahey Health and director and hostess of the Woman of the Year Awards gala. “I truly believe that it is the best platform to gloriously showcase the enormously talented and successful women of our community.”

Dr. Sheth, who also is host of INDIA New England News’ celebrity series Chai With Manju, said the event has been sold out every year with about 500 guests and draws people from all walks of life.

“Every year I am in awe of the amazing nominations that we get for this event,” said Dr. Sheth. “List seems to be getting bigger every year. I encourage everyone to look around them and take the time to nominate a special lady making a difference so together we can celebrate and honor 20 special achievers on May 17th at Burlington Marriott.”

This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Woman of the Year award. A special issue profiling all 20 Outstanding Women will be published in the May 2019 issue of INDIA New England News.

Out of the hundreds of nominations each year, the editorial team of INDIA New England News selects 20 finalists, and then the names and supporting testimonials and documents are submitted to an independent panel of judges, who then choose Woman of the Year.
