New Book Examines Gaza War, Iran-Israel Tensions and Global Implications

NEW DELHI — A new book by Col. Rajeev Agarwal offers an in-depth look at the ongoing conflict in West Asia, tracing the complex political, military, and humanitarian dynamics shaping the region.

Titled “Between Tehran and Tel Aviv” and available on Amazon, the book presents what the author describes as a detailed account of the alliances, rivalries, and historical tensions driving instability across the Middle East. Agarwal, a senior research consultant at the Chintan Research Foundation in Delhi, explores how regional power struggles—particularly involving Iran and Israel—continue to influence global security.

The book examines Iran’s expanding role in the region, arguing that its actions and ambitions carry significant consequences beyond West Asia. It also outlines Israel’s security challenges, focusing on the country’s military strategies and efforts to maintain sovereignty amid ongoing threats.

Agarwal contends that the United States has been drawn into a conflict not originally its own, pointing to what he describes as a series of strategic miscalculations made prior to the October 7 Hamas attack.

The humanitarian toll of the war in Gaza is another central theme, with the book highlighting the impact of prolonged violence on civilians and calling for renewed efforts toward dialogue and resolution.

Structured in separate sections, the book goes beyond recounting events to examine the underlying causes and key turning points of the conflict. It raises questions about how Israel regained military control over Gaza, why multiple ceasefire attempts failed, and how Israeli intelligence agencies responded during the war. It also explores the unprecedented direct military confrontation between Iran and Israel, as well as Israel’s broader efforts to neutralize threats along its borders.

The narrative follows the conflict through moments of escalation and uncertainty, documenting episodes of loss, tension, and shifting momentum, while also reflecting on how the war ultimately concluded.

As tensions involving Iran continue, Agarwal argues that the Gaza conflict offers important lessons on the consequences of prolonged warfare and its wider geopolitical impact. (Source: IANS)
