NASHUA, NH – The City of Nashua’s Director of Community Development, Sarah Marchant, will join a delegation, made up of 4 other professionals and the team leader, to the Indian city of Mysore.
The program, sponsored completely by the Rotary International District 7870 of Southern Vermont & New Hampshire, is a civic and cultural exchange program for leaders from the district and Nashua’s sister city of Mysore.
Mayor Jim Donchess is a strong proponent of building ties both economically and culturally.
“Approximately 6% of our population hails from India. Strengthening the link between our community and our sister city in South Asia may help us add jobs and attract businesses to Nashua” stated Mayor Donchess.
“This is an incredible opportunity for both Nashua and Mysore. The exchange of ideas and the relationship building will benefit everyone involved. I am sure it will prove to be an invaluable experience for me personally and I welcome the opportunity to better acquaint myself with the wonderful people of Mysore.” commented Director Marchant.
“One of the many objectives of Director Marchant’s participation in the delegation is to act as an economic development liaison to the business community in Nashua and to provide an opportunity to start the dialog where direct foreign investment may occur. It is with these sentiments in mind that Director Marchant will be available to meet with businesses of Nashua to discuss how she can be leveraged for their benefit” said Tim Cummings, Director of Economic Development for the City of Nashua.
Rotary International Group Study Exchange Programs, since 1965, have sent approximately 69,000 professionals overseas. As part of this program Director Marchant’s, visit to Mysore is completely funded by Rotary International and at no cost to the taxpayers.
Director Marchant will be available on Thursday, January 12 at 12:30 PM to meet with individuals looking to explore business opportunities in Mysore. Director Marchant will be with the City’s Economic Development Director, Tim Cummings hosting meetings at 200 Innovative Way, Nashua
