Medha Shankar Dismisses Comparisons with Yami Gautam Ahead of ‘Ginny Weds Sunny 2’ Release
Actress says she focuses on her craft, not comparisons, as sequel gears up for release
Mumbai— Actress Medha Shankar has addressed comparisons with Yami Gautam ahead of the release of Ginny Weds Sunny 2, saying such parallels do not concern her.
Stepping into the lead role in the sequel to the 2020 romantic comedy Ginny Weds Sunny, originally headlined by Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey, Medha said she prefers to focus on her own performance rather than external comparisons.
“Nothing like that. I love Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar. They know how much I admire them,” she said in an exclusive interaction. “Yami has always been a great actor. Sometimes recognition comes a little later.”
Emphasizing her approach, Medha added, “It’s not about comparison. I am always inspired by people who have done great work—before me, after me, or alongside me. Even if comparisons happen, it doesn’t matter to me.”
The sequel introduces a fresh pairing, with Medha starring opposite Avinash Tiwary. The film is scheduled to release on April 24.
