WALTHAM, MA—INDIA New England News, one of the largest print, online and video magazines serving the Indian-American community in the United States, has released the list of the 20 Outstanding Women of 2018, who be honored at the 16th Annual Woman of the Year Awards gala on June 1, 2018, at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA.
“There are a lot of new faces in this year’s list of Outstanding Women. They represent a variety of industries, professions and passion for their cause,” said Upendra Mishra, producer of Woman of the Year gala and publisher of INDIA News England News and its sister publications IndUS Business Journal and Boston Real Estate Times. “We are excited to honor these 20 outstanding women who have followed their passion.”
Since 2002, INDIA New England News has been honoring 20 outstanding women from various fields.
This year’s Outstanding Women list represents a diverse group of women in the areas of science, venture capital, business, education, healthcare, art and culture, and community and social services.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Shobha Shastry, founder and CEO of Alankar Event Planners & Decorators. Ms. Shastry has provided wedding services, decorations and mandaps in New England for two decades. She provides her services for free for charities and the needy, helping thousands of couples get married in New England.
“It has been a privilege for me to be part of the core team and hostess of this event for the last six years after being honored with the coveted Woman of the Year title in 2011,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, MD, hostess of Woman of the Year gala, and the celebrity series Chai With Manju.  “I have to say that it gets more exciting every year as we learn about the amazing achievements of South Asian women in so many diverse fields. My congratulations to all 20 Outstanding Women of 2018, and I look forward to welcoming everyone on June 1 with our team.”
