Kriti Sanon announced as Bata’s brand ambassador

New Delhi– Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has been announced as the brand ambassador of Bata India. It is after 21 years that the footwear brand has finalised a Bollywood face post it’s association with Rani Mukerji.

“Bata is an iconic brand, and I have been a big fan of Bata shoes since early childhood. So, I was delighted when Bata approached me to be the face of their brand. And the delight turned into surprise when I saw the stylish and fashionable collection that they have introduced for the women of today.

As Bata’s new brand ambassador, she’ll be seen promoting the brand’s newly launched Bata Red Label fashion collection along with their other ranges.

Salman reaches Sonamarg for ‘Race 3’ shoot

Srinagar– Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on Monday reached the picturesque Sonamarg hill station in Jammu and Kashmir for a two-day shooting schedule of Remo D’Souza directed movie “Race 3”.

The action packed thriller is being produced jointly by Ramesh S. Taurani and Salman.

Besides Salman, “Race 3” will also feature Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem.

Like all Salman blockbusters, “Race 3” is scheduled to be released coinciding with the Eid festival on June 15.

Salman is likely to shoot for the movie in Ladakh region after completing the schedule in Sonamarg.

Sonamarg is hosting Salman for a second time. He spent over a fortnight in Sonamarg last time shooting for Kabir Khan directed super-hit movie “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”.

Sonamarg has been one of the most favourite shooting locales for Bollywood.

Raj Kapoor’s “Ram Teri Ganga Meli” and Yash Chopra’s “Silsila” are some of the better known Bollywood movies shot in Sonamarg.

Fans of the superstar are likely to throng his shooting schedule in Sonamarg, thereby helping local hoteliers, tea vendors and pony owners.

PVR launches smog-free auditorium

New Delhi– With the aim to combat indoor air pollution, cinema exhibition company PVR Ltd on Monday rolled out its “clean air theatre” concept by launching the “Audit-Air-Ium” theatre here.

The company will revamp and retrofit the central air purification systems powered by Nirvana Being to combat indoor air-pollution. PVR ‘Audit-Air-Iums’ will be installed across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

“Ensuring a luxurious cinematic experience in a clean-air environment is our vision of tomorrow and PVR intends to implement this in a phased manner to guarantee an invigorating movie watching experience,” said Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR Ltd.

The first ‘Audit-Air-Ium’ was launched at the Directors’ Cut, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj. Retrofitted with customised air cleaners, the “clean air theatre” concept maintains indoor air quality as per the National Air Quality Index (AQI) standard.

Rajpal Yadav sentenced to six months jail, gets bail

New Delhi– A court here on Monday sentenced Bollywood actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav, convicted of failing to repay a a loan of Rs 5 crore taken by his company to make a movie, to six months jail.

It also slapped a fine of Rs 11.2 crore on him, observing that Yadav was convicted in seven case of bouncing cheques and said that he will pay a fine of Rs 1.6 crore for each case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Arora, however, showed leniency to the actor’s wife Radha Yadav, asking her to pay a fine of Rs 10 lakh.

The court later granted him bail on furnishing of a personal bond of Rs 50,000.

Delhi-based company Murli Projects had filed a case against Yadav’s company Shree Naurang Godavari Entertainment for failing to repay a loan of Rs 5 crore which the actor took in 2010 to make his Hindi debut directional film “Ata Pata Laapata”.

Rajiv Mishra enters ‘Mere Sai’

Mumbai– Actor Rajiv Mishra is set to play a godman in “Mere Sai”. He will be seen portraying the role of Dilawar Ali, a godman who enters Shirdi with three disciples.

“I thought a lot before agreeing to do this role as I feel an actor needs to inherently feel that he can do justice to the part. It’s a daunting task for me to be able to perform in front of an actor who is enacting the role of Sai (Abeer Soofi),” Rajiv said in a statement.

“I have worked on many shows earlier, but this is the first time I am associated with a unique show like ‘Mere Sai’. In ‘Mere Sai’, my character has a distinct look. He is completely wrapped in a white outfit from head to toe, and he doesn’t like anyone touching his feet,” he added.

“Mere Sai” is aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Elli AvrRam meets Akon

Mumbai– Actress Elli AvrRam met internationally renowned singer Akon and says life is full of surprises.

Elli on Monday tweeted a photograph of herself with Akon, who has sung numbers like “Smack that”, “Lonely”, “I wanna love you”, “Sorry, blame it on me” and “Right now”.

In the photograph, Elli is sporting a playsuit while Akon is seen wearing a powder blue track suit.

“When you hear them calling out Akon let them keep on calling? If I only knew back then when I used to sing this song with my friend that one day I’ll meet Akon. Life is full of surprises,” she captioned the image.

On the work front, Elli was last seen on the small screen as a host for “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge”.

Utpal Das keen to work in Bollywood

New Delhi– Assamese actor Utpal Das says he would like to work in Bollywood but only with challenging roles.

“I’m interested to work in Bollywood. I prefer roles which challenge my credibility as an actor to cater to a wider audience of the entertainment industry,” Utpal told IANS.

Utpal, who has featured in films like “Dhan Kuberor Dhon”, “Raamdhenu”, “Borolar Ghor Durjon” and “Konwarpurar Konwar”, feels “there is abundance of talented people in the North East region who are deprived of the acknowledgment they deserve due to various reasons”.

“This is an unfortunate case but with keen interest and proper channelisation of talent management groups or bodies, this aspect could be changed of talent growth and facilitating the right talent for the desired requirement,” he added.

The actor got associated with Pantaloons for Bihu Xubhojatra. The fashion brand, from Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd, celebrated 10 years of opening its first store at DT Tower, Guwahati by thanking the people of Guwahati for their love and support with a 2.5 km long Bihu Xubojatra earlier this month.

Utpal said the event was one of its kind.

‘Sachin…’ makers to adapt ‘Brewster’s Millions’

Mumbai– 200 Not Out Cinemas Pvt. Ltd., the makers of “Sachin: A Billion dreams”, are set to make a film on the book “Brewster’s Millions” by George Barr McCutcheon.

The novel revolves around Montgomery Brewster, a young man who inherits a million dollars from his rich grandfather.

Shortly after, his rich uncle dies and leaves Brewster seven million dollars, but only under the condition that he keeps none of the money inherited from his grandfather.

Brewster is required to spend every penny of his grandfather’s inheritance within one year.

If Brewster meets these terms, he will gain the full seven million dollars; if he fails, he remains penniless.

“We are happy to announce that we are making a film on ‘Brewster’s Millions’. I am a big fan of comedies. There have been a few adaptations of this book worldwide. We have a modern take on the timeless classic and I am extremely happy with the way the story has turned out,” Ravi Bhagchandka, the film’s producer and founder of 200 Not Out Cinemas Pvt. Ltd., said in a statement.

“It is going to be a laugh riot and we are hoping to attach some big names to the cast of the film soon,” he added.

Rana praises Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan for ‘Mahanati’

Chennai– Actor Rana Daggubati has praised actors Keerthy Suresh and Dulquer Salmaan for their upcoming film “Mahanati”.

Rana on Sunday took to Twitter to share a still from the film and captioned it: “You guys are just amazing Keerthy and Dulquer… Nagi my man good luck everything looks amazing. Looking forward ‘Mahanati’.”

Dulquer plays veteran star Gemini Ganesan in the Telugu-Tamil bilingual biopic “Mahanati”, which is based on the legendary southern actress Savitri.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, “Mahanati”, stars Keerthy as Savitri, apart from Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Mohan Babu and Vijay Devarakonda.

Rana is on board to star in the trilingual remake of late actor Rajesh Khanna’s 1971 film “Haathi Mere Saathi”.

It will be shot in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil with Rana in the lead. Inspired by true events, the remake will be helmed by Prabhu Solomon. (IANS)
