NEW DELHI– Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met with Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins and his team on Tuesday, encouraging the global tech giant to expand its presence in India’s rapidly growing digital technology sector.
During the meeting in New Delhi, Scindia emphasized the need to leverage India’s vast talent pool and growing digital infrastructure to create solutions that benefit everyday citizens. He also highlighted India’s emerging leadership in next-generation technologies such as 6G and artificial intelligence (AI).
“It was a pleasure to meet Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco, and his team,” Scindia posted on social media platform X. “We deliberated on deepening Cisco’s tech footprint in India, expanding into Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, strengthening cybersecurity, and co-creating solutions that truly touch lives at the grassroots.”
With India solidifying its position as a global digital powerhouse, Scindia expressed confidence in building a secure, inclusive, and future-ready Bharat through deeper collaboration with industry leaders like Cisco.
The minister invited Cisco to explore broader investment opportunities in the country’s digital ecosystem, pointing to India’s evolution as a global hub for technology innovation and manufacturing.
Scindia also stressed the importance of developing holistic digital ecosystems that go beyond physical infrastructure—ones that empower communities and prepare future generations for a technology-driven world.
Tuesday’s meeting builds on Cisco’s growing engagement in India, including the launch of its first manufacturing facility in Chennai in 2024, a milestone that Scindia personally attended.
The facility, built in collaboration with Indian contract manufacturer Flex, is expected to generate over $1.3 billion annually in combined exports and domestic production, while creating around 1,200 jobs. It will also help bring advanced telecom technologies to both Indian and global markets.
“The inauguration of Cisco’s manufacturing facility in India, producing advanced telecom equipment, is a testament to the country’s growing Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) in the global technology landscape,” Scindia said at the time of the launch.
As India accelerates toward a technology-driven future, Scindia reaffirmed the government’s commitment to welcoming global partners like Cisco to co-create resilient, inclusive, and transformative digital solutions for all. (Source: IANS)
