The track brings together a notable team of Indian music industry veterans. The lyrics are written by Sameer Anjaan, music is composed by Anu Malik, and production is led by Indrajit Tubby Sharma.
“Aap ke liye bahut hi surili cheez main leke aa raha hoon… Bade dil se bana hua gana hai… Anuradhaji ne bahut hi dil se gaya hai,” Malik said, describing the song as a heartfelt and melodic composition.
The title “Piya Bairiya” draws from a classic Hindi-Urdu poetic expression:
· “Piya” means beloved
· “Bairiya” refers to one who causes pain or feels like an enemy
Together, the phrase conveys a layered emotional meaning—“my beloved who feels like a tormentor”—often used in Indian music to express longing, separation, and the bittersweet intensity of love.
The release reflects Juju Productions’ broader vision of creating music that resonates across cultures while remaining rooted in Indian musical traditions.
Anuradha Palakurthi-Juju brings a wide-ranging musical background to the project including serving as the Chairperson of MIT’s Heritage Arts of South Asia (MITHAS).
Interestingly, the title track of her earlier album Jaan Mer ( composed by Ustad Nishat Khan) was also produced by Indrajit Tubby Sharma – and won the Radio Mirchi award in Mumbai.
With “Piya Bairiya,” Juju continues to bring together established Bollywood talent and cross-cultural influences in a contemporary musical release aimed at global listeners.
