Madhuri Dixit Roped in to Host Marathi Version of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’

The Bollywood icon will host ‘Kon Honaar Crorepati’ for the first time, with her debut promo set to premiere during KBC Season 18.

Mumbai — Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit is set to take the hot seat as the host of the Marathi edition of the popular quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, titled Kon Honaar Crorepati.

According to sources close to the development, Madhuri has been finalised to host the Marathi adaptation, marking her first association with the Kaun Banega Crorepati franchise as a host.

“The promo shoot has already been completed and the first official promo introducing her as the host will be unveiled during the premiere of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 on August 10, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan,” a source told IANS.

The makers reportedly chose Madhuri because of her strong popularity and emotional connect with Marathi audiences. A Maharashtrian herself, the actress, widely known as the ‘Dhak Dhak girl’, has maintained a strong association with Marathi culture throughout her career.

The announcement comes after the channel recently dropped a cryptic promotional video hinting at the identity of the new host.

Stars Drop Hints About New Host

In the promotional video, members of the show’s team were seen at the red carpet of an awards ceremony, where the identity of the new host was revealed to select celebrities while being kept secret from viewers.

Actors and personalities including Abhijeet Sawant, Bharat Jadhav and Renuka Shahane were shown a placard carrying the host’s name.

While the name was not shown to viewers, their reactions offered some clues. The celebrities responded with gestures associated with Madhuri, including mimicking her famous “Dhak Dhak” move and recreating her signature “Aaha!” expression from the iconic film Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!.

The video concluded by asking viewers to guess the identity of the new host in the comments. Many fans correctly predicted Madhuri’s name.

Madhuri’s Marathi Connection

While Kon Honaar Crorepati marks Madhuri’s first stint as the host of the franchise, she has previously appeared in Marathi cinema.

The actress made her Marathi film debut in 2018 with Bucket List, further strengthening her connection with audiences in the state.

Madhuri’s involvement with Kon Honaar Crorepati also brings a major Bollywood personality to a show that has previously been hosted by prominent Marathi names.

The Marathi adaptation has earlier been hosted by Sachin Khedekar, Swapnil Joshi and filmmaker Nagraj Manjule.

The first official glimpse of Madhuri as the new host is expected to be unveiled during the premiere of Amitabh Bachchan-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 on August 10.

Her arrival is expected to add a new dimension to the Marathi version of the long-running quiz show, combining the franchise’s familiar format with Madhuri’s longstanding popularity among Marathi-speaking audiences. (Source: IANS)
