IAGB Makes History, Announces Day-Long Republic Day Mela, Featuring Multiple Activities

BURLINGTON, MA– India Association of Greater Boston, a non-profit community organization known for organizing India’s Republic Day and Independence Day events in Boston, is going to make history on its Republic Day 2017 celebrations.

“For the first time, IAGB will host day-long Republic Day Mela,” said Aditi Taylor, a member of the Board of Directors of India Association of Greater Boston, known as IAGB. “We will have about 10 parallel competitions on that day.

Ruchi Agrawal, another IAGB director, said that Republic Day celebrations will be held on Jan. 28, 2017, and that celebrations will be on going the entire day featuring multiple activities for all ages and talents to participate in.

“The activities will include multiple events like Patriotic Theme Art, Science Quiz, Chess Tournament and Geography Bee to name a few in different age groups,” Agarwal said in a statement. “Start preparing to participate in the competitions.”

These competitions will be followed by group cultural performances like every year.

Republic Day Mela will end the day with a IAGB first-ever LIVE Antakshari Competition Grand Finale. Elimination rounds for the Antakshari will be held in four locations: Burlington, Waltham and Westford in Massachusetts and in Nashua in NH, during the month of November.

“So be ready to sign up in a location that works for you! Please watch out for more details coming soon. This will be a Mela not to be missed,” Agarwal said.
