Himesh Reshammiya Set to Return as Judge on ‘Indian Idol’ Season 17

Mumbai — Music composer and singer Himesh Reshammiya is set to return to the judging panel of “Indian Idol” for the singing reality show’s upcoming 17th season.

Sources familiar with the development said Reshammiya will soon begin shooting for the new season, marking his return after previously serving as a judge on the show.

Reshammiya has been associated with the “Indian Idol” franchise across multiple seasons and is known for his work as a composer, playback singer and television mentor.

He began his career as a music composer in the late 1990s, with “Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya” among his early film credits. He later composed music for several successful Hindi films before establishing himself as a playback singer.

Songs from films including “Tere Naam” and “Aashiq Banaya Aapne” helped make Reshammiya one of the most recognizable figures in Hindi film music during the 2000s, aided by his distinctive voice and musical style.

He also found success as a solo artist with his 2006 album “Aap Kaa Surroor,” which became one of the most commercially successful Indian pop albums of its era.

“Indian Idol,” based on the international “Idol” format, debuted on Indian television in 2004 and has provided a national platform for aspiring singers from across the country.

The show has helped launch the careers of several singers, including Abhijeet Sawant, Neha Kakkar and Monali Thakur.
