Health Talk: Neurologist and Headache Expert Dr. Paul Mathew on “When is Headache an Emergency?”

BURLINGTON, MA— Dr. Paul Mathew, Director of Continuing Medical Education at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Department of Neurology, John R. Graham Headache Center, and who serves as the Director of Headache Medicine at the Cambridge Health Alliance, will talk about “When is Headache and Emergency” at the mega Health & Wellness Expo on Sunday, April 19, at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA.

In an exclusive video interview with INE MultiMedia’s Health Talk series, Dr. Mathew talks about various types of headaches, including migraine, and what one can do to avoid or get relief from headaches.

Here are some basic facts about headache:

1. Approximately 45 million Americans complain of headaches each year.
2. About 8 million Americans visit their doctor for complaints of headache each year.
3. Twenty-eight million Americans suffer from migraines.

Dr. Mathew is the Director of Continuing Medical Education at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Department of Neurology, John R. Graham Headache Center, and serves as the Director of Headache Medicine at the Cambridge Health Alliance.

He also serves as the Harvard Medical School Advanced Neurology Clerkship Director. He completed his neurology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and then completed a fellowship in headache medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is board certified in neurology and headache medicine.

In addition to conventional headache treatments, Dr. Mathew performs Botox injections, trigger point injections, and nerve blocks. He has written multiple publications, and has presented at both national and international conferences. He is also a member of several medical societies including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Headache Society, and the International Headache Society.
