GoDaddy CEO Says Pace of Change in India Has Accelerated

Seattle — The pace of change in India has accelerated significantly, GoDaddy CEO Aman Bhutani said, describing the country as one of the fastest-growing markets for the internet and web-hosting company.

In an interview with IANS, Bhutani said GoDaddy has a substantial customer base in India and continues to see opportunities as the country develops.

“But we love India as a market. We love growing there and we have a ton of customers in India and it’s, it’s one of our fastest growing markets,” he said.

Bhutani described GoDaddy as the world’s largest domain registrar and said the company’s business in India was performing well. He added that the overall domain market in the country was still expanding.

His assessment was also shaped by the changes he has seen during visits to India, where he grew up.

Bhutani said he moved to the United States a little more than 25 years ago and has watched India change considerably over that period.

“And that pace of change in India has definitely accelerated,” he said.

He said returning to places transformed by construction and other development sometimes made familiar surroundings feel like a different city or even a different country.

Bhutani said his pride in India’s progress remained as strong as it was when he moved to the United States.

He spoke during a gathering of Indian American technology professionals in Seattle, where participants met visiting representatives, including India’s ambassador.

Bhutani said Seattle has a sizeable Indian American technology community, with many members interested in staying involved in India’s development.

“One is always surprised to see how many of us there are here,” he said.

The gathering gave participants an opportunity to hear about India’s priorities and consider how their experience could contribute, Bhutani said.

“It was great to listen to our ambassador. It was great to listen to the priorities that India has and what contribution we can play.”

Bhutani said members of the community were eager not only to follow developments in India but also to participate in the country’s continued growth.

“I think the number one thing for me is that people are very eager to participate, people are very eager to understand the story and be part of India continuing to develop,” he said.

He also credited the Indian consulate in Seattle with helping members of the community build stronger connections.

Bhutani said consulate events had brought people together, introduced community members to one another and helped create a broader network.

“It has been fantastic to have a consulate general here in Seattle,” he said. (Source: IANS)
