Featuring Atul Purohit, Rass-Garba Set for Sept. 10 in Foxborough, MA

FOXBOROUGH, MA–Academy of Creative Arts and Dhoom Entertainment are collaborating to bring one of the biggest Garba events of New England to Boston area next month. The featured artist is Atul Purohit, a living legend when it comes to Gujarati folk music and Garba.

The Rass-Garba event will be held on Sunday, September 10, at the Ambrosia Banquet facility in Foxborough, MA.

“We are delighted to announce the biggest ever Navratri event in New England as our first fundraiser. Proceeds from this event would be used to expand the academy offerings by adding new educational programs for the benefit of our next generation of kids,” Java Joshi, founder of Academy of Creative Arts, said in a statement.

In addition to Gujarati folk music and Garba, Purohit is well-known for Sunderkand and devotional songs. He is recipient of Gujarat Gaurav Puraskaar for his contribution to Gujarati folk music.  He is also a classical singer and founder of Rutambara Group, one of the major attractions at United Way of Vadodara. He has been singing for United Way for the last 18 years.

“This is the first time he is coming to Boston/New England and ours will be only show in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut,” said Eshani Shah, founder of Dhoom Entertainment. “He has drawn crowds ranging from 5,000 to 12,000. We are expecting a raving response and want to create one of a kind experience for all our participants to enjoy real traditional Garba from the best of Gujarat when it comes to Garba.”

This event is expected to draw participation of over 2,500 people, and is strategically planned to be in Foxborough near Gillette stadium for convenience of attendees from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, organizers said.

Gujarati street foods and delicacies will also be served for attendees as refreshments

Dhoom Entertainment, an entertainment and event management company, has been arranging programs all over the United States since 1987. Dhoom has organized various large and small events, which include plays starring popular Bollywood actors like Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Swaroop Sampat/Rawal as well as Gujarati theater artists like Siddharth Randeria, Sarita Joshi, Apara Mehta, etc.
