Father’s Day 2017 falls on June 18th this year. We conducted a survey to discover just how much consumers are spending on dad, what consumers are buying, and what activities they will do with dad. Our survey shows fathers (65%) are the most important over husbands, grandparents, and other male figures when shopping for Father’s Day gifts.
Father’s Day Spending
The survey did show that fathers are most important when shopping for Father’s Day, however consumers will be spending more on their husbands. When compared to shopping on Mother’s Day, consumers spend 11% more on moms ($67.59) than fathers ($60.30), and 35% more on wives ($90.67) than husbands ($63.72).
What Gifts do Dads Want on Father’s Day?
Aside from spending time with the family (81%), dads are partial to outdoor-related gifts (38%). This is followed by tech (25%), fitness (14%), fashion (10%), health (8%), and grooming (6%). Consumers are aware of this trend as we found most will be buying outdoor (44%), tech (18%), and fashion (16%) gifts.
What are You Doing with Dad this Father’s Day?
This Father’s Day, 36% will be spending the day with dad. The majority of people will be going out to eat (45%) or doing something outdoors (25%). Do you have a favorite activity for Father’s Day?
From the insights we’ve found, it’s obvious that consumers are invested in how they celebrate the father figures in their life.
