Deshpande, a longtime entrepreneur and philanthropist, emphasized Gupta’s pioneering role and multifaceted achievements. “Vinita is my contemporary and the first Indian woman entrepreneur to take her company public. She has excelled in whatever she has chosen to do,” he said. “Her life story is a real testament to what an individual can achieve with dedication, hard work and true grit.”

Gupta, who has spent more than four decades in Silicon Valley, made history as the first Indian-American woman to take a company public in the United States. She has remained an active advocate for women in technology and entrepreneurship, particularly in traditionally male-dominated sectors.

In addition to her business accomplishments, Gupta is also a multiple-time national bridge champion, highlighting a career that spans both high-stakes corporate leadership and elite competitive play.

Her memoir, The Woman In Deed: Road to IPO, Bridge Tables, and Beyond, chronicles her journey from her early years in India to leading a company through an initial public offering on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The book also explores her experiences navigating gender barriers in business and her later success in competitive bridge.

The TiE Tuesdays event will center on Gupta’s personal and professional journey, with Deshpande leading a discussion on entrepreneurship, resilience, and leadership. Attendees will also have opportunities for networking and informal engagement.

The event is free for TiE Boston charter and general members, with food and beverages provided. Organizers expect strong interest from the region’s entrepreneurial community, reflecting Gupta’s prominence and the continued draw of TiE Boston’s speaker series.
