Cybersecurity Giant Veracode CEO Sam King Says There is no Male or Female CEO, Just a CEO

BOSTON— Sam King, CEO of Veracode, a Burlington, MA-based cybersecurity firm that serves more than 2,000 customers worldwide across a wide range of industries, says there is no male or female CEO but just a CEO.

At recent TiECon East conference, Ms. King game an inspiring talk about cybersecurity and gender in the corporate. In an exclusive interview with INDIA New England News, she talks about challenges of running a business and raising a family.

Having previously served as General Manager following Veracode’s acquisition by CA Technologies in April 2017 and Veracode Chief Strategy Officer prior, Ms. King is a recognized expert in application security and the emerging practice of DevSecOps.

 

She is a sought-after speaker at industry events including RSA Conference, Gartner Security Summit and InfoSecurity and has been profiled in business publications such as the Huffington Post, CNNMoney, Financial Times, InfoSecurity Magazine and the Boston Business Journal, according to her official bio.

 

As a founding member of the Veracode team, she led the establishment and growth of the application security category, working with industry analysts and experts while helping grow the company at double the market average year-over-year.

 

She joined Veracode from VeriSign, where she led the development of one of the first and most prominent security-as-a-service offerings. While at VeriSign, Ms. King held product management, product marketing, professional services and customer relationship management responsibilities.

 

Ms. King received her Masters of Science and Engineering in Computer and Information Science from University of Pennsylvania. She earned her BS in Computer Science from University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, where she earned the prestigious Charles Babbage Award, awarded to the student with the highest academic achievement in the graduating class.

 

Ms. King is active in community and mentorship programs, having worked with organizations such as the Boston Product Management Association, Working Mother’s Association and provides mentorship for women and young professionals inside and outside the organizations in which she has held positions. She is also a member of the board of directors of Progress Software. Outside of work, Ms. King loves to travel and spend time outdoors, skiing, climbing and hiking with her family.
