Concert Featuring Kavita Krishnamurthy and L. Subramaniam Set for May 9 in Lynn

LYNN, Mass. — The highly anticipated “Bollywood & Beyond” concert featuring acclaimed vocalist Kavita Krishnamurthy and renowned violinist L. Subramaniam will now take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, organizers announced.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium.

Presented by Generation Bollywood, the program will bring together two of India’s most celebrated musical artists for an evening that blends Bollywood favorites with Indian classical and global influences. Audiences can expect a rich fusion of genres designed to appeal to a wide range of music lovers.

Kavita Krishnamurthy, born Sharada Krishnamurthy, is widely regarded as one of India’s most accomplished playback singers. Over a career spanning more than four decades, she has recorded more than 50,000 songs in over 45 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi. Rising to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, she is known for iconic songs such as “Hawa Hawai,” “Nimbooda,” and “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast,” and has collaborated with legendary composers like R. D. Burman and A. R. Rahman. Her many honors include four consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and the Padma Shri, awarded in 2005.

She has performed at prestigious venues around the world, including London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Lincoln Center, earning acclaim for both Bollywood and classical fusion performances.

Her husband and collaborator, L. Subramaniam, is an internationally celebrated violinist known for seamlessly blending Carnatic classical traditions with Western orchestral music. Together, they have made significant contributions to global music through performances and educational initiatives, including their work with the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts.

Organizers say the May 9 concert will deliver an unforgettable musical experience, celebrating the enduring legacy and global appeal of Indian music.
