Actress Asin marries Micromax founder
New Delhi–Actress Asin Thottumkal on Tuesday exchanged wedding vows with electronics company Micromax founder Rahul Sharma in a closely-guarded ceremony. The couple married as per Christian rituals at the Dusit Devarana hotel here in the morning, and another celebration is in the pipeline later in the day.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, the best man and the groom’s close friend, was present for the wedding, which was attended by only close family members and friends of the couple. The security for the wedding was tight and the hotel staff didn’t allow any outsiders or “unknown people” inside the premises.

Asin is primarily known for her work in the southern film industry. Her popularity went a notch higher when she made her Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan starrer “Ghajini” in 2008. Akshay, who worked with Asin in “Khiladi 786” and “Housefull 2”, is said to have played Cupid between Asin and Rahul. And he was the first one to receive their wedding card.

‘Rajini Murugan’ first Tamil blockbuster of 2016
Chennai–Actor Sivakarthikeyan’s Tamil comedy “Rajini Murugan”, which released after months of delay on Makar Sankranti last week, has emerged as the industry’s first blockbuster of the year.

“In the opening weekend, the film raked in over Rs.20 crore worldwide. It’s the biggest opening for the Sivakarthikeyan in his career so far. Despite the onslaught of the three other big releases, ‘Rajini Murugan’ emerged successful,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS. Directed by Ponram, the film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Soori and Rajkiran in important roles.

Despite mixed reviews, “Rajini Murugan” was lapped up by the masses. “The film has registered fantastic opening everywhere, especially in B and C centres. It has worked extremely well with the masses and family audiences,” Trinath said.

Ali Zafar playing special role in ‘Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive’
Mumbai–Actor Ali Zafar, who played the lead role in “Tere Bin Laden”, will be seen in a special role in its sequel “Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive”. The film is releasing on February 19 and also stars Pradhuman Singh, Piyush Mishra and Sikandar.

“The journey of the character of Ali from the first film has been completed and this film is about the character of Sharma (played by Manish Paul). And in the film Ali has a very special role. When you’ll watch the film, you’ll understand why he couldn’t do the main role,” said Abhishek Sharma, the director of both films at the trailer launch on Tuesday.

“I think the trailer has given enough hint out there if you can see it. Only Ali Zafar could’ve played this special role and I don’t think he could’ve played what Manish is playing. The answer lies in the film once you see it – when you see it you will not miss Ali Zafar since he’s brilliant in this film as well,” he added.

Coach is only similarity in ‘Chak De! India’, ‘Saala Khadoos’: Madhavan
Mumbai–Actor R. Madhavan says the only common factor between his forthcoming film “Saala Khadoos” and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Chak De! India” is that they have a protagonist who’s a sports coach. “Chak De! India” told a story of a hockey coach, while “Saala Khadoos” features Madhavan as a boxing coach.

When Madhavan was asked for his views on how the rushes of “Saala Khadoos” reminds one of of “Chak De! India”, which was about women’s hockey team, in bits and pieces, the actor said: “There is no connection… There is a certain aspect of the film that resembles ‘Chak De!…’, but it’s not a spin-off on the film.”

“‘Saala Khadoos’ is definitely not like ‘Chak De!…’. There is a coach in this film, and that’s the only similarity. There is no other similarity… it’s also a different sport.” “Saala Khadoos”, co-produced by Rajkumar Hirani Films and Tricolour Films in association with UTV Motion Pictures, revolves around Madhavan, who relentlessly pushes his protege Ritika to overcome obstacles and achieve her goals.

The actor, who trained hard to get the body of a retired boxer, said he took his own time to get into shape. “I went to the US and trained for one and half years to box. I had built up my physique to look like a retired boxer as there is a difference between the body of real functional boxer and retired boxer… I took my own time, but it was worth it,” Madhavan said.
